Matse’s unceremonious exit from 99.3 Nigeria info

She was the darling of Wazobia fm listeners, a voice which made Pidgin English melodious on radio. When she was deployed to Nigeria info prior to the beginning of the English talk show station, she pulled her fans and listeners on Wazobia fm across, giving the new station a fast boost for listeners. The most interesting recipe for Matse’s fans remains her easy flow from pidgin to normal English with same voice but different act. Some of her fans tweeted at her, jokingly asking if she was the same person blowing grammar. What were they thinking? That she could not speak good English? She was a professional broadcaster, so building a bridge between grassroots and continental broadcasting was no issue.
In her official statement after receiving a sack later on her sick bed dated 2nd September 2013, Matse who had been managing pregnancy haphazardness admitted not being at her best before her job was rudely terminated. She expected the company she had served with discipline, integrity and honesty to be supportive of her instead of sending her a sack letter right on a hospital bed.
The award winning OAP stressed obviously that her guts in doing things the right way could have been the reason for her predicament. She challenged any one who knows her one on one to voice out if she had been unpleasant, rude or mean. How ever, no one is perfect she stated. On the account of her official press release, the way she was treated is pathetic considering her input in the radio stations. When she needed their support and understanding, she got a boot.

In as much as the organization might had put some policies into consideration, her sack seems no different from the internal politics that had seen many of her colleagues in private media houses disposed in similar unceremonious manner. The list is endless, and they are all trying to cope with the circumstances by which their appointments were terminated. Even though the former chief operating officer for Silverbird group, Mr. Oscar Udofia  was not OAP, but next to the Bruce brothers, still his exit  from the organization in which he was a founding staff was more pathetic after he fell ill and consequently lost his job.  Wale Scot, Effiong Nyong were also one of those who disappeared from the work place which they contributed to it growth due to what can be considered as internal politics. Not because they are incompetent or has reached retirement age.

There is always this competition to become and stay relevant than others in private media which at the end do more harm than good to the entire system. For the organizations, it is like a use and dump affair, while it has become like grab as much as you can while you are still relevant for the staffs. Little or no wonder why most OAP run things in a way that enriches their personal pockets outside their normal organization policies and arrangement, knowing that there is no job and retirement security for them. This made them form cliques and mafias among them selves, seeing the gut of who ever want to be loyal to professionalism as a threat. In the quest to keep the circle, conspiracy became the order of the day, leading to a whole lot of indiscriminate job termination as a slightest situation without a staff getting to retirement stage; hence right to pension.

Matse Uwatse may not be the last, but the most recent voice that will be missing on the radio stations through which she was known, loved and respected due to unfounded, unjustifiable reasons. Her job was the love of her life and she gave it her best until she found a life time lover. She got married with pregnancy which shared her attention and consequently slowed her down, same reason why she was relieved of her duty.
We pray this is not the end of her bright side in radio broadcasting like others who left the private media houses in an unprepared and unpleasant manner. We pray her star shines again after a safe delivery as well nursing her baby.

They should have given her sometime to get better. I suspect conspiracy, and her down moment was the best time for them to strike
