Former Silver Bird COO Oscar Udofia is finally rested after a year

One year after, Oscar Udofia, former Silver Bird communication COO buried amidst out pour of memories from loved ones and associates. One of such is a long one made availble to BM by Treeze, a former staff.

My boss, Mr Effiong Nyong called me and said to me, "someone would be joining us at the office at the National Stadium, Surulere. Behold the man was Mr Oscar Udofia, former Chief Operating Officer at Silver Bird Communication, his former boss. Firstly I saw a man of courage who was battling with health challenge (stroke), with amazing tenacity and resilience. He was not deterred to move on, resuming work to run his own personal company, Oscudeen Limited. 

He came with his staff as well as the things he would need, yet he chose to make me more useful with a sense of belonging... Yes he engaged me formally just by mare recommendation. He was not interested in my academic qualification but my abilities. Boom he formalized my appointment as an IT Assistant and I officially got identified as a Staff of Oscudeen Limited which he, Mr Oscar personally facilitated. He empowered me to do the job without wasting time. He gave me the necessary information. He would have me sit before him to write down business letters which he would dictate. Most warmly, he would gist with me like a friend and encourage me like a father. His courage to life even in the health struggling condition was amazing. Indeed he made me feel so valuable  within that short time before the health condition became more challenging, and he had to stop coming to the office. Yet he did not hesitate to invite me to his house to discuss my then project and how he could link me up... I went with two Blue Prints, and he recommended which should be pushed first. It was the last time I spent with him. As usual the gist was heartfelt as other people came around too.

The man who I found my self to have had this experience with was a man you had to catch if you can. Once you do, something must be done about your reason of wanting to see him. So I learnt, and my one on one encounter with him, though during his down time could attest to that information. He never had an excuse not to impact in the life of anyone he came in contact with in any possible way. Even his battle with stroke could not stop him, instead made him more determined to make his mark in every human who came across him. 

Dear Sir, I missed you during the time we could not see again. Now it feels even more heart breaking that I will have to wait till the last day. Although some of the business letters we wrote together were approved, but you were doing the final battle with illness. I was hoping to come see you again, but each time I called, your first response usually was about my project not your health even though it was getting critical. I had to wait. I really had to in order not to keep you worried about it, so as to concentrate on recovering. Now this is how it all end here. I'm glad about your greatest victory of all which is using your last days to find everlasting peace with everyone around you, ultimately with his creator. On that I say congratulations as you journey to the world beyond. Your life was full of lessons and blessings. Rest on boss till we meet again. ....
